Romans 3:19-26 Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. 20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it– 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
So now you are a Child of God. You made your confession of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, but now what? You may be asking “How does God view me now?”. Well, before we can answer that question we must look at how God saw you pre-salvation.
Before you were saved, God loved you just as He loves you now, however, you were an enemy of Him. Romans 3:10-18 tells us that we do not have the ability on our own to be good. It tells us that we can’t seek after God nor do we understand Him. We have turned away, meaning we have tried to live our own lives apart from what God would want for our lives. So what we were doing, was rebelling against His Holy standard therefore making us enemies of God for He cannot associate with what is unclean.
But now, according to the above passage God has revealed his righteousness through Jesus Christ, your new Savior, apart from the Law for the Law was only to show us that we couldn’t do it. We couldn’t match up to what God required of us because of our depravity and rebellion. God, knowing this, sent Jesus to this Earth just to die to pay for EVERY sin committed both past, present, and future! Jesus paid it ALL. This is a WONDERFUL thing!!
Now, we are justified. That word justified means “made righteous in the eyes of God”. Because Jesus paid for EVERY sin, God now sees us as PERFECT! We don’t have to do anything else to be accepted by our God! We already have everything we need to enter Heaven, because Jesus was the propitiation or satisfaction of the holiness that God required. This made him both Just, and the one who justifies! He couldn’t just look past sin, it had to be paid for, and your new Savior did just that for you!
New Christian, YOU ARE JUSTIFIED!! Not by your works or the things that you accomplished, but by God Almighty himself!
